About the ACED Junior Academy at Darlington Golf club
The ACED Junior Academy at Darlington Golf Club, led by PGA Professional Aaron Cox, is dedicated to becoming a leading light for junior golf in the Durham region. Our goal is simple: to provide a welcoming environment for juniors of all abilities, aged 5 to 13, to pick up a club and get started.
Fun, Growth, and the Future
The ACED Academy is about more than just the swing; it’s about making sure kids actually enjoy being at the golf club. We’ve built a fun, social atmosphere that has seen our academy numbers jump from 6 to 80 players in just four years.
During that same time, junior membership at the club has risen from 2 to 86. We aren’t just teaching golf; we are building a vibrant junior section that will become the heartbeat of Darlington Golf Club for years to come.

ACED Junior Academy at Darlington Golf Club
The ACED Junior Academy delivers fun and exciting golf tuition tailored for children aged 5–13. Our mission is to provide a structured, professional environment where young golfers can thrive, learn the game, and become a valued part of the club community.
The ACED Development Pathway
Every junior is provided with our 7-level development book, which serves as a roadmap for their progress. This structured approach covers:
Technical Skills: Mastering the fundamentals of chipping, putting, irons, and driving.
Physicality: Introducing fitness and wellbeing to increase effort and participation.
Mindset: Teaching positive behaviour, etiquette, and the rules of the game.
The Basics: A core focus on Grip, Aim, Stance, Posture, Triangle, Takeaway, and Rotation.
As players reach 12 years and older, we shift toward more advanced techniques. Juniors begin to explore elite swing mechanics—from upswing to follow-through—and learn how to “visualise” and execute specific ball flights on the course.
The Junior Academy Course
Opened in September 2019, our 6-hole Junior Academy Course is the heartbeat of the program. It offers a dedicated space for Academy Members to play their own course, building the confidence and yardage needed before stepping up to the 18-hole Championship course.
This course serves as the ultimate training ground for etiquette and order of play, and it hosts a full season of prestigious 2-Round Tournaments, including:
The Masters (competing for the Green Jacket)
The Open Championship (playing for the Claret Jug)
The Player’s Tournament & Tour Championship
The Darlington BM Championship
The Season Play-offs & Order of Merit
The top 24 juniors on the Order of Merit qualify for the following year’s Ryder Cup, providing an exciting competitive goal for every child in the academy.

Wednesday 5pm & 6pm – April 22nd, 29th, May 6th
Saturdays 9am, 10am, 11am Girls – April 25th, May 2nd, 9th
It’s free for the first 3 weeks.
Max 8 Kids each class
All Classes are Conducted by PGA Coach Joe Mulroy
