About the ACED Junior Academy at Richmond
The ACED Junior Academy at Richmond Golf Club is run by PGA PRO Aaron Cox. My vision is to be a leading Junior Academy in the North Yorkshire Region for juniors of all ages and abilities between 5–13 years.
We have a great facility with a practice fairway perfect for working on the long game, a short game green with 2 bunkers to practice the up and downs. The club also has a state-of-the-art swing studio with Sky Trak launch monitor to give each player numbers on their swing and ball flights.
The Junior Academy gives kids the opportunity to learn golf in a fun and welcoming environment. The club is always wanting juniors to enjoy their time at the club and learn. Building a successful junior section is important for the next generation of members of Richmond Yorks Golf Club.
Junior Academy Development Programme
The ACED Junior Academy delivers fun and exciting golf tuition to kids aged between 5-13.
The 7-level junior development book is provided to teach kids about skills, fitness, behaviour and working with professional and structured golf tuition to increase the knowledge of all facets of the game. Introducing fitness, wellbeing into their lives will increase effort and participation. Learning the fundamentals and moving onto playing the game will be the backbone of what the ACED Academy at Richmond Yorks Golf Club want to achieve. Giving the opportunity to juniors to join the club and be a part of a golf club as academy members, playing on the junior academy course. The kids then have the opportunity as they grow in confidence and ability to move to Full Junior membership playing on the 18 hole Championship golf course.
Teaching the young kids in a fun and safe environment is number one, with the kids learning the fundamentals of the game – Grip, Aim, Stance, Posture, Triangle, Takeaway and Rotation with learning shots like chipping, putting, irons and driving. The kids will learn all the skills to play on the academy course and then onto the main course.
The older juniors from 12 years onwards learning more about technique aspects – from takeaway, upswing, downswing and follow through and swing techniques that are more elite. Being able to create different ball flights and create shots in their mind in practice to create the same shots on the course.
The NEW Junior Academy 5 Hole Golf Course will open in Summer 2023. A new, revamped kids course will give juniors the chance to play their very own course and be a member of the club as an Academy Member. The Junior academy course will create a pathway teaching the juniors about order of play, etiquette, rules and getting them ready for the main golf course. The Junior Academy Course will host future Junior Academy Tournaments which will be played over 3 rounds, this will be great for them to take all learning aspects from the classes into action in the tournaments. The tournaments will include a Player’s Tournament, Tour Championship, The Open Championship for the Claret Jug and finishing the year with the Richmond Playoffs to crown the Order of Merit Winner. These tournaments are designed for kids aged 6-13 who are not old enough, aren’t able to hit the ball far enough on the main course.
The Junior Academy course will be perfect for the kids to grow and get confident playing golf on their very own course before moving to the Main championship course.
