2025 ACED Junior Golf Tour Grand Final

Report on a thrilling end-of-season event at Blackwell Grange…

The inaugural season of the 2025 ACED Junior Golf Tour in the north east of England came to a thrilling conclusion with the Grand Final at the magnificent Blackwell Grange in Darlington.

With the leading players having a head start on their divisional rivals, depending on where they finished in the regular season Order of Merits, the boys and girls enjoyed the opportunity to compete in the warm weather.

Home club member Toby Archbold comfortably held on to his overnight advantage in the Under 18 Boys category as he posted 39 points on the day to finish eight ahead of club-mate George Stephenson.

It was a similar story in the Under 18 Girls as Billingham’s Emily Wakenshaw kept herself clear of the chasing pack as she finished two ahead of Lisa Conboy-Bryson (Ravensworth), with Lilly-Anne Phillips (Houghton Le Spring) in third.

The Under-15s Boys category witnessed the performance of the day as Tobias Slade (Blackwell Grange) carded 43 points to secure first place by seven from team-mate Freddie Harland.

Olivia Harland did just enough to secure the top spot in the Under 13 Girls as the home club member finished two ahead of Phoebe Harrison (Newcastle) and Sorcha Bond (Eaglescliffe), who both finished on 41 points.

Two more Blackwell Grange members played well in the Under 13 Boys as Stephen Bates (42 points) secured first place by eight from runner-up Ellis Singh.

In the Under-10s category, which is played as a gross competition over nine holes, Giorgio Glendinning (Teesside) came through to take the plaudits by one from Oliver Whitehead (Blackwell Grange), thanks to a five-over-par total.

In the Reserve Finals, Stokesley’s Charlie Atkins carded an eight-over-par round to clinch the Under-10s prize, while Freddie Whittaker (Headlam Hall) smashed an impressive tally of 44 points to win the 18-hole competition.
