Double Order of Merit points were at stake in the fourth event on the ACED Junior Golf Tour as the boys and girls competed on consecutive days at Richmond (York) Golf Club on May 27th and 28th.
The most thrilling finish to the tournament came in the Under 13 Boys section as Ellis Singh snatched the first prize from Owen Walker (Hunley Hall).
Trailing by a couple of points with two holes to play, the Blackwell Grange golfer carded net birdies on the 35th and 36th holes to secure victory.
Charles Calvert (Blackwell Grange) overcame a shaky front nine on the second day to compile a brilliant finish to claim top spot in the Under 18 Boys by five strokes from Toby Archbold (Blackwell Grange) with a 36-hole total of 72 points.
Leading by one after the first round of the Under 18 Girls, Billingham’s Emily Wakenshaw took control with five net birdies in the first nine holes on the second day to eventually finish three ahead of Lilly-Ann Phillips (Houghton Le Spring) on 68.
Blackwell Grange’s Connor Robertson maintained a high standard of golf over both rounds of the Under 15 Boys as he finished four clear of Olly Mcmanners (Castle Eden) with 72 points.
Consistency throughout the second day was the key to victory for Olivia Harland (Blackwell Grange) in the Under 13 Girls as her tally of 66 points pushed her two ahead of a couple of players.
The most comprehensive win came in the Under 10 division as Teesside’s Giorgio Glendinning (87) carded the best score on both days to finish 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Charlie Atkins (Stokesley).
