Round 3 – Bishop Auckland Golf Club – April 23rd

Harry Maloney set a new mark for the biggest individual total in an event on the ACED Junior Golf Tour as he smashed 43 points in the third round at Bishop Auckland Golf Club on April 23rd.

The Eaglescliffe member compiled a breathtaking back nine, which included one net eagle and six net birdies, to win the Under 15 Boys prize by four from Headlam Hall’s Freddie Whittaker, who carded three net eagles over the homeward stretch.

Toby Archbold was only marginally less impressive in the Under 18 Boys division as the Blackwell Grange golfer carded seven net birdies and 10 net pars in a tally of 41 points. Club-mate Ethan Jeff was runner-up on 34.

Billingham Emily Wakenshaw (33) took the plaudits in the Under 18 Girls section by two from Lilly Davis (Durham City), after picking up 15 points in her last five holes.

A couple of points was also the margin of success in the Under 13 Girls category as Olivia Harland (38) beat fellow Blackwell Grange member Lilah Underdown, courtesy of net birdies on the last three holes.

Ramside’s Miller Harrison produced a stunning exhibition on the par three holes as he collected 17 points on the five short holes to claim first place in the Under 13 Boys division by one from Hunley Hall’s Owen Walker (36).

A four on the closing hole helped Oliver Whitehead (Blackwell Grange) secure his first Under 10s win of the year as he snatched top spot ahead of team-mate Rory Mcgee on 41 shots.
