Forty one points was the best individual total in the second round of the ACED Junior Golf Tour as Lilah Underdown found her best form at Wearside Golf Club on April 22nd.
The Blackwell Grange member fired three net eagles and three net birdies during an 11-hole stretch from the third hole to finish two clear of club-mate Olivia Harland, who had the thrill of a gross eagle on the 10th hole.
A couple of points was also the difference between first and second in the Under 13 Boys as Whitburn’s Joseph Newby (32) produced a strong finish to edge ahead of Owen Walker (Hunley Hall).
Barnard Castle’s Joe Rutherford (36) nudged one clear of Tobias Slade (Blackwell Grange) in the Under 15 Boys section as a net eagle and four net birdies on the closing half proved crucial.
Holding onto an early advantage was the name of the game in both the Under 18 categories as Ethan Smiles (Close House) and Lilly Davis (Durham City) clinched the Boys and Girls titles respectively.
Smiles bagged 32 points to finish two ahead of Blackwell Grange’s Toby Archbold, who produced a sparkling back nine, while Davis (33) squeezed one in front of Houghton Le Spring’s Lilly-Ann Phillips, who eagled the 16th hole.
Rory Mcgee made it two wins out of two this season in the Under 10s as a consistent round of 42 strokes lifted him a couple of shots ahead of Oliver Whitehead (Blackwell Grange).
